Map of haplogroup R1a in Germany and Austria

Here is my map of the frequency of R1a in Germany:

(black dots = places where samples come from):

The highest frequency is in this area:

    - Chemnitz in Saxony (ca. 40%),
    - Dessau in Saxony-Anhalt (ca. 43%)
    - Brandenburg an der Havel (ca. 50%),
    - Lusatia (ethnic Sorbs: ca. 65%)

In Austria: Graz in Styria (ca. 43%)

The vast majority are the same subclades which can be found among Slavs and Balts.

Only a small minority are typically Germanic subclades like R1a-Z284 and R1a-L664.

Check also my threads on Y-DNA frequencies in former eastern German provinces:

it could be for Lusatian culture or even slavic invasion, maybe cause some germanic tribes went to East to and after returned for the currently german area

If you seen Sámova rise map you could find a a bit of the slavic influence in Austria and East Germany. Eastern germans and austrians share a lot of dna with slavic people, that could be because of the lusatian influence but even cause of the slavic influence.
