    MDLP K23b odd admix results

    Hi all,

    Looking for some feedback on my MDLP K23b results. In particular the crimean tatar results. I have searched around for similar comparisons and couldn't find any answers.

    I have only English / Irish / Scottish / Australian known ancestry but this has popped up.

    Is it normal for this calc to put random results in like this or is it likely some sort of ancient component?

    All of them will do this kind of thing on the Oracle results and especially if you have some mixed ancestry that isn't in neat 25% increments. The admix results aren't the Oracle results. The primary output are the admixture percentages and you have a good amount of South Central Asian plus Melano_Polynesian in your admixture, but not quite 25%. So, when the Oracle search tries to pick, basically, four grandparents that are "un-mixed" that add up to your admixture, this is the best in can do. The Oracle search is just a mathematical exercise where representative persons/populations results from this same test are searched for close matches. Programs like nMonte or 4mix permit the searching of the same spreadsheet of results and allow percentages to vary other than even 25% increments, so sometimes can produce better answers.

    I'll look into the south central asian too as I have no idea what could inflate that.
    Where can I find these programs that you mentioned nMonte, 4mix? I've never heard of them, thanks

    This thread has instructions on how to use the programs with links for the downloads. The instructions are for a different calculator than MDLP K23, but the same basic instructions work for any calculator. You can view the spreadsheet from Gedmatch by clicking on the "Spreadsheet" button after you get your results. You will have to do some copy/paste/editing, but the data is all there.
