Hang in there for another month. I'm glad that I decided to order my kit back in April. I had initially planned to order it this September. If I had done this, I wouldn't be getting results until next spring.

    Update:

FGC has a new offering, offered as a pilot project, the long read whole genome, which has 10 Mb haplotype blocks. This is a dramatic improvement on the current short-read whole genome technology of 150 bp. Our offering is currently $2750 per sample.
    https://www.fullgenomes.com/purchases/61/?

Our offering will also provide advanced ancestry information as well as significant improvements in the data for other applications. We can also refer you to appropriate teams for sophisticated health analysis (FGC does not provide health reports).

Was this a scientific survey or did you base your conclusion on bias. If you can't afford the top shelf, you should keep shelf envy to yourself, it's unbecoming. I always enjoyed working with successful people. Remember success breeds success. Try it, you will love it. Good luck and better attitude.

Good science doesn't always come cheap. $2750 is hardly affordable by only millionaires.

Affordability is a matter of prospective. What is affordable to one person, may not be affordable to another, even on equal footing. We all in one form or another want what is best, again a matter of perspective.

My perspective encompasses the desire to gain knowledge on my paternal line. How much should one expend on such an endeavor, again a matter of perspective. At present I have gov't funds coming in which I can use at my own discretion. I so choose to further my knowledge and to give a helping hand to those in need.

So, the answer is no, you don't have to be a millionaire to afford extensive indepth DNA results. Remember the first genome sequencing took years to complete and approx. 1,000,000 times more expensive. Think about that perspective.

Any comparative specs on this pilot vs. the established FGC offerings aside from the 10 Mb read lengths? Any projections on what this pilot might do for STR accuracy? Thank you for continuing to push the boundaries.

The beta test is running now. We should have comparative data soon.

Who is in batches 9009 and 8008? Those batches have completed sequencing. 8007 is still not complete. We must be the difficult batch. LOL
