Various Caucausus groups. The ones that share more drift with Kandhari than Afghan Pashtuns are shaded green, the rest shaded red, sorted with least shared drift on the bottom.

I decided to model Kurds C2 and C3 using qpAdm since they were used to model some Pashtun individuals. I have posted C3's results here, and will post C2 by tomorrow.

EDIT: Kurd C2's breakdown has also been added at the above link

Here are a couple of somewhat ok fits for Kaido. I was unable to model Sein , Haryana Jatt, and Khana using the same base samples I used for Meli and Kandhari, indicating the 2 have substantially different drift histories from them. I am guessing more east shifted steppe samples may be needed than Andronovo 503 for the other individuals.

    Thanks for trying the fit!

Interesting, that Kaido got somewhat of a fit and Sein did not. I suspect Balq may get a fit, if Melli and Kaido are -- but perhaps not. Did you try Rukha?

That's quite interesting since Yousefzais were "originally" from Kandahar as per historical documentation, perhaps Kaido would share with Yousefzais from Afghanistan. I forgot about Sein's ancestry, waiting for Rukha's qpAdm whenever you have time. Dera Manana.

It is far more likely that caucuasus admixture into Pashtuns was inferred via ADMIXED Caucausus based groups such as Kurds, Georgians, Iranic peoples, etc throughout the neolithic and later.

With regards to lacking EEF or what have you, the program assigns the percentages and how great the fit is.
Yes from Cacasus-based groups of the Neolithic but surely not from Kurds or Georgians and Kurdish population in Afghanistan was never significant at all. I not even heard about any kurdish communties in Afghanistan yet. A lot of Persians settled and moved to Afghanistan but i dont think they changed genetics so much. West Asian ancestry arrived in Afghanistan before all this ethnicities evolved and even before any Indo-Iranians existed there. Non-Indo-Iranian Burusho for example have the same kind of West Asian CHG ancestry like Indo-Iranians there. Kalash who dont have recent West Asia ancestry have also similar West Asian ancestry. The point is that using CHG dominated people who have some steppe ancestry like Kurds give a wrong impression that Pashtuns have kurdish ancestry when in reality your results just show that Pashtuns are mainly CHG + sigificant steppe. The West Asian ancestry of Pashtuns is not 100% CHG and some is EEF from steppe people or other West Asian ancestry from pre and post Indo-Iranian genetic diffusion from the west. But when CHG arrived in Afghanistan any SW ancestry or siginificant EEF admixture was absent in the source population and it arrived in Afghanistan before SW Asian/EEF arrived in Iran and the Caucasus.

I have a question though, how is Kaido less Pulliyar than Melli on the runs?

Sein I believe is more E Eurasian shifted than Kaido, and Kaido as Surbakhun pointed out is Yousifzai, whom I believe have a connection to Kandhar. I have not given up on Sein or you. BTW, I found a run a did for you a while ago. You may have it.

fixed pat wt dof chisq tail prob
    000 0 4 1.618 0 0.640 0.368 -0.008 infeasible
    001 1 5 1.640 0.896356 0.630 0.370 0.000
    010 1 5 5.004 0 1.017 0.000 -0.017 infeasible

    110 2 6 358.913 0 0.000 0.000 1.000

Basically shows best fit as chisq 1.640 Tail prob 0.896356 0.630 Kashmiri Pandit 0.370 Balochi 0.000 . I suspect the fit could have improved if I had the right E Eurasian pop in the run also

That what came to mind first. Rukha is next.

That is why his fit is not great.
