I forgot to post a followup on this. Kit 275672 turned out to be Z93+ Z94-. The R1a Project now classifies him as

    9. M420>M459>M198>M417>Z645>Z93-B1 Russian lineage (Big Y needed)

along with #309561, also Russian and also tested Z93+ Z94- . As you can see from YFull's haplotree, the vast majority of R-Z93 is also Z94+ , but we have been slowly finding tiny additional subclades under Z93.

Thank you again, Jean M, for your support!

I was thinking about asking you what happened! Thanks for letting us know. That is interesting. Well worth doing.

My royalty statement covering the second half of last year has arrived. Ancestral Journeys continues to sell well. I therefore have another £100 looking for a good home. This time suggestions related to France would be appropriate, in honour of the partial translation into French being undertaken by a member here.

I do confirm Jean, you have many readers in the French-language based discussion forum (one of the most active in the International Section). As you perfectly know, there is a clampdown on aDNA subjects in our beautiful country...

I do indeed know, and don't expect a suggestion for funding an aDNA study. But can you think of anything that might be helpful for me to fund?

Talking about France, we have posted today on "Le Grenier Indo-Européen" (French language-based forum) a link to the 'Revue d'Etudes Indo-Européennes' archives. This specialized review had been issued during 15 years and is still a mine of information upon IE topics. French readers are thus welcome!

If no-one can come up with a need related to France, let's throw it open.

We happen to be in the middle of an amazing discount sale (until April 27). The Big Y is only $425, and SNP packs are only $89. So how about an out-of-the-box suggestion?

The Polish #109663 has tested (via SNP packs)
    L238+ Z2246+ Z2245-

YFull has never encountered such a case, nor has Ytree ("The Big Tree"). Thus, #109663 is the earliest known offshoot of the mysterious R1b-L238 clade.

The person himself cannot afford any further tests, but in the past I have always gotten permission to order tests for him at my own expense. Here is my proposal:

    1) I get permission, and then order, the Big Y for this person at the $425 discount price, on a "pay later" basis. (FTDNA reserves the right to cancel that discount order if it remains unpaid after April 27.)

    2) You pledge to contribute your £100 (roughly $125), and I pledge $200 (gulp!). We wait until April 27 to see whether others in this forum can together pledge the other $100.

    3) If we get the necessary pledges, we pay for the Big Y by April 27.

This is perfect. It caught me in the middle of writing a bit on R1b in Scandinava for the new book. $425 is only about £332, so I am happy to pay the lot, as long as:

    1. You tell me how to do it.
    2. The result will be back before October, when my text has to be in.
