My geno 2.0 results came back as having paternal haplogroup J-PF7404 (there is zero info about it). Now i transferred my results to ftdna and the results there were quite different. Ftdna had me as J-L556.

After researching a bit, i found out that this (J-L556) is a primarly jewish group which is interesting seeing that im assyrian (aramean).

Could someone please help me understand all of this?
Welcome to the forum, marlonlanxton. If you do not mind me asking, which of the churches do you or did your ancestors belong to? Syriac Orthodox by any chance? My parents are members of the Church of the East ("Nestorian").

My pleasure, its very possible that maybe the case, at the moment J-L556 is exculsively Ashkenazi and I do think the Assyrian and Syriac sample size is very small on the Assyrian ftdna project there is only 129 members of which 8 are under J2 with only 2 who tested for snps, which is extremely small, and there does appear to be 3 members who are under M92 based off str markers so it's possible they could end up being J-L556.

Thank you! I belong to the syriac orthodox church. I suppose you originate from northern Iraq then as well?

Perhaps if we go far enough back. But my immediate ancestors are from Iran and Turkey.
