Odd -- my expected dates are in the future even though I initially received my BigY results in early May (Batch #740):

Funny enough, these delayed October dates are the same as another fellow A-M13 kit whose BigY results were bought in late July (Batch #770), expected in late September, and delayed twice up to 10/16/2017-10/30/2017:

I wonder if this oddity is solely with A haplogroup members; on the forum I've seen more recent BigY batches (>770) of other haplogroups receive their results earlier.

I've had a post mysteriously disappear. I must be politically incorrect.

Any way, let us summarize the positive on the topic, which is Big Y and changes to it:

Big Y is finally updating their on-line tools to include Big Y chromsome browsing and Terminal SNP guidance/matching.

Big Y outsells their primary competition by 24 to 1 in P312 (according to Alex Williamson) and 16 to 1 in U106 (according to Charles Moore). P312/S116 is the giant Y haplogroup of Western and Central Europe.

Big Y and FTDNA's SNPs in general are being converted to Hg38, which is needed.

Big Y has sold for as low as $395 even though some pundits have said the enrichment costs alone were up to $400 so Big Y has apparently beaten the pundits predictions (as FTDNA told me privately they would).

Big Y's $575 list price is too high and should be permanently reduced, in my opinion.

Genetic genealogy is all about comparing people so the more people testing and in the database the better. The size of the matching database is important as well as other on-line functionality such as surname projects, geographic projects, STR matching and SNP guidance/matching (new). See the R1b FAQ page on genetic genealogy platforms for more info:

Here is a little more detail posted by Alex Williamson:

    http://www.ytree.net/Stats.php

2017 Big Y results completed and shared for R1b-L21 have already exceeded all of 2016. As the R-L21 project admin, I can tell you we have a ton of Big Y's still pending and the momentum of Big Y has reached critical mass and will continue to accelerate of its volition.

After these changes in big y , i noticed in my subclade cluster in J-L24, 9 members that their Big y results disappeared and their terminal snp moved back . in addition to them there are some close related (fifth cousin) to some one of them (sharing same terminal snp before current changes) but his terminal snp didn't change same as his cousin , i wonder if these changes will lead to changes in the last published terminal snp ,if this is the case why it happens to some and not for others .

I was grouped in a new clade Y23824 by yFull. Ftdna assigned me to it shortly after but have now busted me back to R-L2. I have a pending notice on my big y results, new results in a month? Have they taken issue then with the yFull findings?

Terminal SNPs will fall back to either tested SNP results or predictions based on STR from FTDNA

Why are people still using Yahoo? One of the least secure major sites on the Internet. Instead it would be much better if Alex offered a secure upload facility on his web site. I am sure there are plenty of people (including myself) who would be willing to donate some funds for a decent server.

Upgraded Big Y results from existing Hg19 customers are now coming in and the SNPs and Unnamed Variants are in the new Hg38 build, but beware that the VCF that is available is still in the Hg19 build so don’t bother to download it. The build version is shown at the end of the text above the Data.

It's too late. The horse left barn years ago. Blame RMS2, I guess. LOL (sorry, Richard). I inherited yahoo groups for L21 and P312 but it is the standard for genetic genealogy consumer testers.

    https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ISOGG/info (project admins)

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/R1b-YDNA/info (this one has about 2,000 members)

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/DNA-NEWBIE/info (big on autosomal DNA, has almost 4,400 members)

    There are many others.

Alex Williamson and Iain McDonald offer their Big Tree and SNP Age analyses without charge. We are trying to stay out of their hair with a myriad of emails or new infrastructures to maintain.

BTW, I don't use my address, phone #, etc. when setting up profiles in these free internet services.

We have 2 men with the new HG38 version, (both tested for the Big Y in late 2016) though no matches showing as yet and the same Terminal SNPs as the old HG19 version.
I also tested in late 2016 and have gotten what look to be some partial results. My terminal SNP (I-Y7198) stayed the same but I’m only showing one match out of the approximately 51 matches I had before. Although, he is one of my two closest matches. From what I can see, it doesn’t appear to be fully online as of yet.
