    There are two very effective treatments already available - sunscreen and shade (including hats and clothing).
    And they are very affordable.

    I love new science but public health needs to be practical. The existing protections are.
    The other bit. Wake me when we get there.

    I also think this sort of reporting is what we increasingly get these days - substantially reporting by press release.
    Two vitally important facts are omitted.
    1) Existing protection methods - as per above
    2) The important fact that redheads are at known greater risk for melanoma - where is the statistic for this? It should be included.

    I would have been caned for handing in a 1st year science prac report omitting these sort of details.
    Should science reporters hand back 1)their science degree 2)their journalism degree for writing like this?
    Or should they just headline it with Advertorial ?

    Unfortunately, this is one of the better ones. At least an authority who appears to be external is quoted.
