    aDNA from Scotland Results Update

I've just been told that aDNA data from some Scottish sites is being collated now. They will be submitted to 'Nature' magazine soon. If accepted for publication, then the info should be available in a few months - my guess is probably in August.

    Nice,

It should be interesting to see these compared to Ballynahatty and Rathlin from Ireland, and the various genomes from England (Hinxton, York etc.)

Was this the aDNA from Scotland that was included in the big Bell Beaker paper now in preprint? I wouldn't be surprised if that paper was submitted to Nature.

I gather it's not, Jean. I was told that some of the Scottish samples covered the Pictish era in Aberdeenshire, plus others from the first millennium.

It's been ominously quiet on that front. I'm wondering if aDNA wasn't retrievable? I'll ask for the latest news - probably on Monday.

I'm led to believe that there are more aDNA results due, but no release date as yet. The situation is complicated as some people who worked on the initial study have moved to different universities, so effectively out of the loop.

I compared these with my dad's and thought it was cool, but weird how high he matched Rathlin1 on chr. 18
He also got a much smaller match with Ballynahatty with the highest at 3.9 cmRathlin1, Ireland, 2.0ky cal BC -- #F999800dad.PNGBallynahatty, Ireland, 3.2ky cal BCdad.PNG
