Today I received this mail from Astrid Krahn. It's very interesting!

Dramatic Price Cut!

YSEQ has lowered the price for single SNP tests by 50%!

Every YSNP only $17.50 NOW!

YSEQ has reached a new milestone with 10,000 single Y-SNPs in the catalog.
We thought that this is now the time to change the world of SNP testing and cut prices in half so that you are able to ramp up your number of participants that will be tested for your private SNP!

With more than 10,000 SNPs in the catalog (verified and ready for testing) YSEQ is now
THE BIGGEST PROVIDER OF INDIVIDUAL Y-SNP TESTING IN THE WORLD!

Compare by yourself:

Number of individual SNPs in the catalog (Feb 24, 2015):
YSEQ: 10254
Competitor F.: less than 7200

Time for delivery of results:
YSEQ: "We deliver more than 95% of our results within 5 weeks after the sample arrives back in the laboratory."
Competitor F: "The average time from our receiving your kit at our office until we post your results to your account is: Y-DNA: 6 to 8 weeks" (cited from their FAQ)

By the way, for private SNP testing it doesn't matter how big the database of the testing provider is, because you can easily compare a few hundred individuals in a spreadsheet by yourself when you focus just on your specific haplogroup. Ever tried to google for a SNP name? I always find what I need, so I don't really need another closed database...

Let the Spring Festival of SNPs begin!

Astrid

Is there a way to insert in their catalog my SNPs SNP 7664023 (C/T), 14144251 (C/G), 14311608 (G/A), 23531255 (G/A) ?

Today I received this mail from Astrid Krahn. It's very interesting!

That's probably because of the coupons that are being offered by FTDNA. Some of them are for $20 bringing the price down to $19 for most SNPs.

Wow they're efficient! This morning I wished for Z30729 (a recent addition below S2808 on Ray Banks' G tree) and it just now got added! On a Sunday!

YSEQ is very fast!!
I ordered a SNP test on Mar 1, and received results on Mar 4, only 3 days!
someone ordered a SNP at FTDNA on Feb 28, on Mar 4 only batched test.

I've been waiting a bit longer than that for the actual SNP tests - ordered PH239 Feb 24 and Z30729 Mar 1 and both are still processing. However, they're both new additions, which could make them take extra time - and it still hasn't been too long.

Now seems can't use $20 coupon for SNP test, it says "This coupon requires a greater amount to be purchased", so the price is still $39.

I found that out recently. It's a no-brainer now. Yseq is the way to go.

I had a SNP test take too long at Yseq because they had to run it multiple times. They gave me a free SNP test. There weren't any equivalents available but it proved that I am positive for two different phylogenetically equivalent SNPs above the one I am having tested.
