This is the Krahns' new DNA testing company (http://www.yseq.net/). Their pricing (http://shop.yseq.net/index.php?cPath=1) is slightly lower than FTDNA's.

They already offer a test for Y33 (which may mark the Volga-Carpathian cluster within R1a-CTS3402), which FTDNA does not offer.

Very good news indeed. I hope they get plenty of support (i.e. customers).

The foreshadowed single STR offering is nice.

This really looks good.
YSEQ DNA Origins Project - Philosophy
The main goal of the YSEQ DNA Origins Project is detailed knowledge about male ancestry. The YSEQ project serves as a platform for citizen scientists. Newly discovered SNPs will be added to the Y-haplogroup tree on ISOGG’s website and the results will be shared with the community of DNA genealogists.

Is this the flexibility of Sanger sequencing and that is why they can offer +Get other SNPs on same segment for FREE and +Custom designed Primers?
Any problems with integrating YSEQ DNA SNP and STR data?

They also already offer a few SNPs from Full Genome Corp. They are in the range FGC5544 -FGC5554 which were presumably just released to the tester in the past few days. This is precisely what we need to compliment the Full Genome sequencing projects. Can we determine who the tester was and which cluster he belongs to so others in the cluster have the opportunity to get their orders in?

I particularly like this statement….

Thomas Krahn, Sun 24/11/2013 23:37

“ If you just received your NGS [Next Generation Sequencing] results, ask us for a bulk package offer by e-mail (info@yseq.net).”

I placed three newish SNPs (available on Geno2 but not as a la carte orders from FTDNA) on a "wish list" with YSEQ about Nov. 23. The tests were available Dec. 11, so I ordered one, and they sent me the sample collection kit the next day. What with slow mail (and my being busy with guests) they received my sample Dec. 23. I got the result today (by email at 3 AM). Seems pretty efficient, to me. It remains to be seen how we are going to report YSEQ results in FTDNA projects, but that's our problem as administrators.

I ordered FGC5338 on 14/2/1 and they sent me the sample collection kit the next day.
The kit will return to Texas at the end of january.
I hope i get the results soon ..

Received the first results for one of the three SNPs ordered from the YSEQ DNA Origins Project (http://www.yseq.net/). The turnaround time is amazing.

Turnaround time (TAT) is one of the most noticeable signs of laboratory service and is often used as a key performance indicator of laboratory performance.

In January, after 2 months from start their activity, only 58 orders. They were very quick.

From January to April, in 3 months, around 600 orders and they were, the same, very fast.

From April to May, in 1 month, another 600 orders ... I'm afraid that they will be not fast ..

I think you'll find that they will be as fast as they possibly can.

I've seen no slow down at YSEQ. Two weeks most of the time, including today's results. Sometimes SNPs require techniques such as "Nested PCR" that may take more time.

I'm happy because once again they were very fast and 10 days are a very acceptable time.
Unfortunately i am still negative ...

Here is my results with YSEQ and it appears they still process pretty quick once the sample is received. From processing start to 1st pass results on the L21 Superclade was 5 days. I will update when all results are in.

On a side note. The First Class International USPS shipping time to Germany took over 1 month I had mailed out the samples on 6th of January and the lab started processing on 8th Feb. Astrid and Thomas sent out a replacement and it was shipped USPS Priority International on 6th Feb. the lab received it on 14th Feb. So when sending from the US consider spending the extra money if you want it to arrive quicker.

Shipping cost USPS 1st Class International - $9 +/-
Shipping cost USPS Priority International - $25 +/-

They received my samples Jan 4 and posted my results Jan 12. Very nice.

I seem to be negative for all currently defined subclades of S2808 (at least according to ISOGG, Ray Banks and the G-L497 project). *eyes BGI* And now we wait.
